You do not need connections to make it. I know people hate hearing me say that, because it's much easier to blame what you don't have. And honestly, I used to think the same thing — that if I could just meet the right people, everything would unlock for me.
But no one actually cares who you know until what you do is undeniable.
I was a kid from a small town in the north of England, DJing every night to empty rooms, just hoping someone important would walk in and change my life. They never did. So I just kept making music for years with no one watching — not because I'd figured out it was the answer, but because I didn't know what else to do.
And eventually the remixes I was putting on SoundCloud started getting downloaded by thousands of people. That's when the connections showed up. Not before.
