Every aspiring DJ I talk to is in the studio learning how to mix. Or they are trying to write the perfect song. That is not the job.
The job is selling your brand. That is the bit almost nobody wants to practice.
Look at the headliners. A lot of them are not there because they are the best DJs in the room. They are not there because they made the best records. They are there because they can sell.
You can be world class on the decks and still play empty rooms if nobody knows who you are. The mix is the easy part. Making people care is the work.
