I'm not a particularly gifted musician. I don't even think I'm a particularly gifted DJ. I'm just somebody who loves putting in the work and watching things happen because of it.
Talent is the most overrated thing in this industry. Everyone's looking for the person who was born with it. I was never that person. What I had was the willingness to keep going long after the talented people got bored.
Sometimes I see a new kid online, locked in his room making music seven days a week — and I get jealous of that.
It's mad, because they pay me millions to travel the world and play music. So why the hell should I be jealous of a kid in his bedroom? But part of me looks at that and thinks: this kid could outwork me. And that scares me in the best way.
Because I actually love being on the grind. That's where I thrive. Not on the stage, not in the photos — in the work nobody sees. If that's the one thing I never let anyone beat me at, I'll be fine.
