I just took a massive L.
I made a track for my favourite house label of all time. Spent about two weeks polishing it, getting it sounding what I thought was perfect. Sent it over — and they said they weren't interested.
Why am I telling you this? Two reasons. One, I want people to know this is normal. It doesn't matter who you are, you're going to get rejected. You're going to hit no.
And two, because how you respond to that L is what really defines who you are and where you're going to go.
The best people in any field have heard so many no's. They've been rejected so many times. But they've got that drive to keep going, and keep going, until one time they hear the yes. Nobody was born able to nail it every time. It's always a process — and the ones who've heard the most no's are the ones who get legend status in the end.
So go out there and get rejected.
